the only things missing are a matador, a drag queen, a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and Antonio Banderas....oh wait, that's the set of an Almodovar movie.
So, not to fill your blog with random thought, but a friend of mine at work and I were discussing various topics the other day, one of which was the emergence of large squids in California and other discoveries from the aquatic world within the last decade. We weren't sure whether the fish/marine species were crawling out of the [drift]woodwork because humans have disturbed their natural ecosystem, or if there is just more awareness nowadays for new species.
I couldn't help but think at the time that perhaps man has come across more species of wildlife than we know, but in our early days of civilization we simply hunted or were hunted. Upon seeing your paella, I couldn't help but think of how many various species of sea life...and land life have gone into paellas throughout time. It's kind of neat to think that one dish can truly unite the worlds of land and sea into one delicious palette of saffron, rice, and a slight hint of lemon.
If you think about it, it's almost as if the Bible should be re-written so that in Genesis, after God created sea animals, land animals, and man, it should indicate how he gave man fire...so that he could cook paella!!!!!!!
Anyways, saludos from Buffalo! Keep cooking, and may the flames cooking your paella on the beach burn as passionately as the ones that fuel this blog in your heart.
